Julieta i, si això, Romeu

Research / Rewriting and movement / 2023

Juliet and, yes, Romeu starts from generating a circle of rewriting and critical reading with young queer people around William Shakespeare's classic work “Romeu and Juliet”. Our design lies in the shared reading of the work and the joint reflection, discovering and sharing who ideas about love have transmitted more than this work, and who patrons we can recognize in our personal and intimate relationships that have marked our lives. As they have influenced the classics and with the flow between reproducing them or avoiding them when it comes to establishing relationships with each other.

Together, we configure a series of materials both textual and other surfaces, which revisit Shakespeare's classic and address different ways of conceiving and reformulating love and design for young people. Juliet i (si això) Romeu investigates retracings to reverse the classical order, historically reconeguting and establishing the figure of Juliet as the primordial one.
